I watched the riot in Syria. The mother, whose children were killed by the government, is shocking. I have to turn my eyes to the problem although Japan is tragic circumstances. It is terrible that the government hire gangsters, named Shabah, with money to suppress antiestablishment. In addition, even United Nations Security Council cannot find a key to the settlement. I cannot do anything but to hope.

movies

I saw three movies, "Sonatine" filmed by Takeshi Kitano, "The Shawshank Redemption", "Stand By Me".

I learned from "Sonatine" that even if human make up their character, they have the nature of human, having gentleness and innocence. As we grew up, we have own identity. We are strongly effected by the surroundings. All around us makes our personality. But we human have human love even if they are gangsters or condemned criminals. I like the films by Takeshi Kitano and also him as a human.

I learned from "The Shawshank Redemption" the importance of trust with our friends, hope and brains. I thought I would be the man who is able to give others encouragement. Trust leads to a big power. I quote famous saying from it as follows:

There are places in this world that aren't made out of stone, and that there's something inside that they can't get to, and that that can't touch. It's yours. Hope.

I thought it is important to keep having hope still I would die though it is difficult.

I sympathize a saying "I never had nay friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve" from "Stand By Me".  It was happy to communicate with friends with innocence. What I have been impressed with this movie represents I got old. haha

What's aliteration in Japanese?

Alliteration, "Touin" in Japanese, attracts attention. For example, many character in comics etc have the name used by alliteration: Mickey Mouse, Doraemon etc. The name using alliteration is easy to remember. Because of this, alliteration is often used in advertisements, newspaper and son on.

As I learned in the class, alliteration shows the author's skill and intelligence. As I think, we can find the technique easier in classic book in Japanese. I wonder the author in old days often used it for the reason. It is often used in waka, traditional Japanese poem of thirty-one syllables like as follows: せば成る さねば成らぬ にごとも さぬはひとの さぬなりけり。

But alliteration has a weak point. It has too noticeable. Surely it has also a good point. It sounds like song and humorous. A tongue twister has it and sound humorous. However, if alliteration was used in novel, because it attracts attention keenly we may not concentrate on content. I don not know why but it may concern with the result that alliteration in Japanese novel etc decreased.

what is a friendship and personality?

What I want to change for four years in Sophia is that I improve my character. My weak point is a bitter smile. I could not attune to people whom I don not like well. There is the opinion that it is not necessary to associate with such a person but as possible as I can I want to talk to and communicate with them. There are interesting things even if it is a little beside a person whom I never respect.
It is important to match with the opinion of others, I, however, never want to change personality. The person who do not has personality and conform to other people everyday is not charming to me. The balance between two is so difficult. I do not tell you that one who tries to please everybody is objectionable. Lack of individuality is bad, I think. People are usually exclusive to the individuality. Owing to the individuality, which is different from usual people, they tend to tease them. In that sense, mass society may be bad. Now people usually listen to the music, which every one do, dress the clothing, which everybody wear, and speak harmlessly and inoffensively. It is boring. Though I write this, I am infected with them, I suggest.

Because of this, I wear the clothes, which I want to, listen to the music, and speak my mind even if it is difficult for others to understand.

My friends in Sophia, Waseda and Kobe are people with plenty of personality. I feel they stimulate my sensitivity. For example, a friend who is crazy at music instruments more than studying, who thinks different way from usual people, who know well many restaurant, who likes alcohol (me too!!), who likes bike and car and so on. My team mate in Rugby tried hard to practice and live when I was a high school student and a ruger man. Thanks to them, I am growing and they help me create my personality. So I want to be such a person in the point of view of them: a person who stimulates others and cheers them up. When I took part in alumni before, I thought the best time in life is when I talk to such a friend. So it is very very important to associate with great friends. Surely associating with my family too. Even if I am in difficult situation, they are tenacious too. That fact makes me strong. The power of them is much stronger than money, honor and so on. Until now I have taken it for granted. Though I am already 21 years old, I realized. It hardly necessary to say.

Here is the picture of days in Australia.

humor

I watched some "Shaun the Sheep" videos. I've thought children in foreign countries have watched and enjoyed it. Compared with Japanese anime? alike it, I think that there are a lot of quick action in characters.

Personifying many animals is humorous. In addition, it is important and effective because children understand animals have minds and hearts like human. From this, children treat animals with great care. This video teaches such a thing, I think.

Feeling about humor is different between culture and country. For example, as I read many texts in class, it was hard for me to understand the humor in them. But like Shaun the Sheep, I could enjoy and understand because it mainly show humor with action from picture. This is why I think cultural things keenly influence human's humor feeling but action of human being is not different well. So, we feel humor even if it was made by foreigner. Thinking such a difference is very interesting thing for me.

Bi-model input learning

I chose the speech by Charlie Chaplin in the movie "Great Dictator".

I found it last year when I listened to a music. A composer made a music with his speech's text, and then I examined who states.
And I listened again and read the text, and was very impressed with it.

About speech
First what point we should give attention to is that in this film Chaplin spoke for the first time.
It means that the statement in the speech by him is from his heart. During seeing war, he wanted to tell genuin evil people. Whom you hate genuinly are not your enemy but your leaders. You are just slaves of them. They treat you like cattle. We are all same as slaves. Therefore we should all unite for fighting with such devilsl.

The statement with I was impressed in the speech is "millions of despareing men and women, little children -victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people." and "You, the people, have the power! The power to create machines. The power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure."

words I must remember are as follows
Gentile, goose-step, bloodshed, torture, cannon fodder, regiment

Hi!!

First post

  • About myself
My name is Haruki. I was born in Hyogo prefecture and grew up surrounded by many high mountains and calm Kobe bay.
I lived great countryside days with my many friends. We spent child's days out side; climbing the mountains, exploring places nobody lived, playing sports, cycling and so on from morning to night.
That days in Tokyo man never experience,  I think.
I like going outside better than being in room. Isn't it right as a literature student?
I like music. I always take my music player. Music is able to support me whenever.
I like the cat. I am crazy at cats. I almost talk to them whenever and whereever meeting them.

I want to talk more people and know other world I do not know.
Bye!
